Special Events Operations Manager

UIW Mission


Position Summary
The Special Events Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing policies, procedures, and management for event implementation in the Rosenberg Skyroom, to include training and working with students. The Special Events Operations Manager reports to the Director of Facilities Event Management.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree. Note that additional relevant experience in significant event management and/or hospitality will be considered in lieu of degree on a year for year basis.

Required Work Experience
  • Three (3) years experience in event management and/or hospitality.
  • One (1) year of experience in leadership or serving as a supervisor.


Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with at least five (5) years of experience in an events management role.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.

Work Hours
Business hours of Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility based on event schedule. extended hours will be required on event dates and prep days as needed. This will include working weekends, evenings and some holidays based on event schedule.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs for table set-up/tear-down at events.
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve events materials and equipment.
  • Ability to push/pull equipment carts holding up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about event venues to actively engage attendees and planning personnel.
