Shuttle Bus Driver
UIW Mission
Position Summary
The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for the safe operation of gas and diesel shuttle buses to transport UIW students and employees safely on assigned
on-campus routes. Drivers are expected to provide excellent customer service in all interactions with passengers and the UIW community, as well as follow all state, city, and university policy and safety regulations. The Shuttle Bus Driver reports to the Manager, Vehicle Services.
Note that four (4) driving breaks are typical during shift, exclusive of lunch break.

Job Duties
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to successfully pass required DOT physical.
- Excellent driving record, as verified through state motor vehicle department.
- Must possess strong customer service skills.
- Knowledge of all state and local traffic laws.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and UIW's safety policies.
- Must have the ability to drive for long periods of time.
- Must be capable of maneuvering shuttles and buses safely and assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
High School diploma or its equivalent. .
Required Work Experience
One (1) year of shuttle and/or bus driving experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Exceptional customer service skills.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver License with P & S Endorsements.
- Must have driving record that is insurable with UIW's insurance carrier.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Ability to successfully pass required DOT physical.
Work Hours
Monday through Friday 11:15 am- 8:15 pm with occasional extended hours when shift coverage is needed.
Physical Demands
- Must have physical strength adequate to maneuver shuttle bus and assist passengers with a disability.
- Must successfully pass a required DOT physical as a condition of employment.
