Job Summary
The Getty Research Institute is seeking a research assistant who will assist the associate director with facilitating research, organizing convenings with GRI stakeholders, and interpretive programming. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student with experience in archival management and preservation with diverse research experience. Field of specialization is open.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Conducts research on various topics related to art history, libraries, and collections
- Gathers, processes, and presents institutional data on current practices and programs in peer academic institutions, as well as galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM)
- Requests images for exhibitions and/or publications; researches and obtains art and image permissions
- Proofreads and edits, as needed
- Assists with the creation of reports, project websites, and PowerPoint presentations
- May copyedit and review texts for public dissemination or publication
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field; Master’s degree or some graduate work preferred
- 0-2 years research experience (education may be considered)
- Strong skills in gathering, manipulating, evaluating, and presenting qualitative and quantitative data
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Background in Information Studies, Art History, Digital Humanitieor related discipline
- Attention to details
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner
- Ability to build relationships, partner with others and work on teams
- Ability to set and meet deadlines for oneself
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Apple Airtable, and Google Docs
