Summary of Position

The Manager of Tax, alongside the SVP of Tax, will oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions for Starz. This role will play a critical part in ensuring tax efficiency and accuracy while maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong background in tax management and a keen ability to provide tax advice to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all tax compliance responsibilities, including the income tax provision, federal and state tax filings and tax projections.
  • Manages and reviews all components of the quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provision, including all financial reporting and disclosure of tax components required for Starz. 
  • Analyzes and reconciles deferred taxes, taxes payable and tax reserve accounts, including ASC 740   
  • Manages Sarbanes-Oxley 404 tax compliance and governance, including assisting colleagues in understanding and implementing controls. 
  • Manages and reviews all components of the federal return preparation process, including book-tax differences, tax disclosure reporting and workpaper documentation.
  • Collaborates and communicates with management and other members of the finance department to ensure proper tax reporting and treatment.
  • Communicates effectively with management regarding ASC 740 and federal taxes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a current CPA license.
  • 5+ years of progressive tax/accounting/finance experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Experience in public accounting and industry, with an emphasis on corporate tax compliance and accounting for income taxes. 
  • Experience within the “Big Four” firms or other nationally-recognized firms
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to develop effective tax policies, procedures and business practices.
  • Proficient knowledge in accounting software applications and all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Advanced technical background in corporate taxation and income tax accounting.  
  • Ability to think conceptually and translate concepts into practical applications and solutions.  
  • Strong ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  
  • Effectively present information to and respond to questions from internal business partners.

Compensation

$109,000 – $172,400
