Position Summary
The Grants Accountant will provide grant and restricted fund financial analysis and management through governmental and university guidelines to ensure fiscal compliance. Specifically, position is responsible for post-award grant administration and accounting for the University and Professional schools. The Grants Accountant reports to the Grants Accounting Manager.

Job Duties


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Skill in operating a calculator and/or a ten key adding machine.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate accounting problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply accounting principles and practices to non-profit/governmental accounting.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial documents and reports.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and use rational judgment in making work-related decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, community, and general public.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications: databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.

Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior grant experience with working knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations, and policies related to grant administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Uniform Guidance and financial audit and reporting requirements.
  • Experience in non-profit/governmental accounting and budgeting.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.
