Position Summary
The Director of Student Services is responsible for the administration and management of the Advising and Student Services functions for the School of Professional Studies (SPS). Position will collaborate closely with the Dean and SPS leadership team to develop and implement strategic initiatives that foster student success from admission through graduation. The Director of Student Services reports to the Associate Dean of the School of Professional Studies.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of constituencies, including some public speaking experience.
  • Strong skills in interpreting and explaining detailed information.
  • Strong organization, budgeting, and personnel management skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple-priorities and high degrees of responsibility in a fast-paced time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong team building and leadership skills.
  • Strong public relations skills.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook or similar. Ability to effectively learn and use internal systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Master's Degree.

Required Work Experience
  • Eight (8) years of relevant progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic setting.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in an office setting to include professional level staff.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Four (4) years of experience administering continuing education programs, workforce development, grant management, or case management, including evaluating effectiveness and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Teaching and training experience.
  • Doctorate Degree.


Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
  • Must have a valid driver's license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.
  • Must obtain and retain military base clearances for access to center locations.


Work Hours
Mon-Fri 8 am to 5 pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental needs, especially during peaks. The position will require some travel to attend as a representative for UIWSPS at events and military base activities.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift to 15 lbs for set-up/tear-down at events, as well as reach overhead, bend, and squat to retrieve promotional materials.
  • Ability to push/pull event carts weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus, military bases, and event venues to actively engage potential and current students and attend meetings on and off campus.
